Jonathan Goldberg was placed as executive vice president and chief information officer of Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare, a three-hospital integrated health system<\/a> that provides comprehensive healthcare through more than 50 locations across a service area of over two million residents in the west and southwest suburbs of Chicago. The health system has been named among IBM Watson Health’s “15 Top Health Systems,” has earned “A” grades in hospital safety from Leapfrog, was named one of the nation’s “Most Wired Advanced Hospitals and Health Systems,” and was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “100 Great Community Hospitals” and to Truven Health Analytics’ list of the nation’s “Top 100 Hospitals.” In his role, Jon will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the health system’s Information Systems Services department, managing the work of approximately 275 employees; in addition, he will be accountable for improving customer experience, for contributing to corporate-wide “employer of choice” work, and for cultivating a high-reliability culture focused on employee satisfaction and patient safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jon comes to Edward-Elmhurst from Arkansas Children’s, where he served as executive vice president and chief innovation and information officer. In this capacity, he led the $80 million replacement of legacy patient and financial applications and an Epic implementation that represented the largest scope of functionality implemented at one time by a health system to date. Under Jon’s leadership, Arkansas Children’s received the 2017 “Best Hospital IT Department” award from Healthcare IT News and achieved HIMSS Stage 7 EMRAM for inpatient. Jon also participated in the planning and oversight of a $167 million construction project for a second hospital to support increasing population growth and the strategy of creating a statewide network of care; co-sponsored a transformational leadership development initiative to create and support organization leaders; created a data governance and analytics department and implemented a comprehensive information security framework; and assisted with the development and oversight of a telemedicine strategy for the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, Jon served as vice president and chief information officer and as director of business process redesign at St. Peter’s Health Partners in Albany, New York; as assistant director of information systems at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City; as a consultant with Healthlink in Charlotte, North Carolina; and as a regional operations manager with Omnicell Technologies in Palo Alto, California. He began his career in project management and analysis with New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation and Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from State University of New York at Albany and a master’s degree in public health administration from Long Island University. He is a founder and former board member of Hixny, a health information exchange in New York, and is both a CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO and a HIMSS Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems. A major health information systems thought leader, Jon is a frequent presenter and industry commentator on current topics related to information technology in health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
